Storms Threaten Texas Coast and Florida Hit Hard
Hurricanes cripple coastal Texas towns from Corpus Christi to Brownsville with warnings of devastation and evacuations. Padre Island and Galveston report strong winds, high tides, and downed lines while Corpus Christi officials move residents to safer cliffs as beaches flood and boats are secured. In Florida, a hundred mile per hour hurricane causes over a million dollars in damage, destroys citrus crops, and leaves one known fatality near Gomez. Communications fade across the interior as storms advance toward Mobile and inland towns brace for impact.
