Achievement Day Draws Crowd at Hope Demonstration
Approximately 400 people attended the annual Home Demonstration Club Achievement Day in Hope. Educational exhibits by 11 clubs and five garden clubs filled the vacant building next to the Specialty Shop, with Garden Club exhibits earning top honors in Class A. The Rose Garden Club won first for flower arrangements using roses. Azalea and Lilac took second and third. Hopewell Club led Hempstead County booths, with notable displays of fresh vegetables, canned meats and a cost efficient upholstered chair. The Victory Style review showcased four divisions of thrift and remade garments, led by Mrs. Beddingfield, Mrs. Averington, Mrs. Huckabee, and others, with fifty garments entered.

Father of Rev. Glenn Hutton Dies in Houston
