A Pine Bluff flier dies in an Arkansas Air National Guard jet crash near Perry while a week ends with at least 13 fatalities in the state. Ten are highway wreck deaths. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Rogers 84 lifelong Hempstead resident were held Sunday at Shover Springs Baptist Church with Rev Wesley Thomason officiating. Burial followed in Shover Springs Cemetery by Oakcrest Chapel. Survived by eight sons and one daughter with siblings in Hope St Louis and Kansas City.
Two Democratic senators from Arkansas and Mississippi arrived back in Washington from Europe denying they asked for special transport. Mrs Olive Wells a 46 year old Prescott nurse at Branch Hospital of Hope suffered leg injuries and multiple lacerations in an auto collision Saturday near Texarkana. Fred M Broom 48 of Emory Texas was also injured. Wells treated and moved to Branch Hospital Hope Arkansas City Police said the crash happened when Wells traveling west on 67 hit Brooms car after he pulled onto the highway from a drive in.
