Hendrix Makes Jump Following 1000 Foot Fall

Master Sergeant James B Hendrix, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient from LePanto Arkansas, becomes a full member of the airborne division after a 1000 foot jump at Fort Benning. He previously survived a 1100 foot fall during a qualifying jump when a parachute failed to open and a reserve tangled. He spent one day in the hospital and earned the Medal for bravery in the Battle of the Bulge, wiping out two machine gun nests, demolishing an artillery section, and capturing 13 Germans.
