The tropical storm swept inland killing 37 people in Cuba and Florida as it moved northward. Elbert Pruitt, a Missouri Pacific Railroad employee, won $40,000 in a Hempstead circuit court jury verdict for injuries after a boxcar support broke while he climbed it. Attorneys Pace Davis and W S Atkins represented Pruitt and Pat Mahaffey O A Graves the railroad. Circuit court adjourned to the January term.
