New Car Owners Must Pay License
LITTLE ROCK Attorney Guns Jack Holt held Thursday that purchase of 1946 automobile licenses during the regular November December 31 purchase period will not exempt automobile owners from buying 1439 quarterly licenses if they have not previously bought 1939 licenses or their cars. Quarterly licenses were placed on sale October 1. The question raised by Revenue Department officials is whether persons buying 1940 models before January 1 could operate them the last two months of this year in 1940. The tags will be placed on sale November 1 under a 1939 net changing the time for buying auto licenses without penalty from January 28 to November 1. Mr Holt said the 1939 net did not repeal a 1920 net providing that auto license taxes should be paid for a calendar year. Authorities at Akron absorb about two-fifths of the world's production of ude rubber.
