Kennedy and Goldwater clash in campaign remarks
Goldwater campaigned on Saturday night at a $106-a-plate dinner, criticizing liberal policies and arguing that a Republican victory would restore fiscal sanity. He accused the president of deception and warned Democrats who back fiscal integrity that Republicans offer real jobs, savings, and family security. Kennedy responded from his home town, urging Democrats to rally around a conservative platform and blasting perceived open thrift gyrations in government. He warned of threats to constitutional prerogatives and national security, citing U N weapons in space discussions.
