Arkansas Attorney General Tom Gentry moved to prevent a possible rehearing of yesterday’s Arkansas Supreme Court decision that the Hot Springs racing franchise is invalid. Oaklawn Jockey Club spokesman William J. Smith said he will resist pending a rehearing decision. the court could open sealed bids if it grants an immediate mandate.
Westinghouse Electric Corp and the CIO International Union of Electrical Workers resumed bargaining in Pittsburgh to end a 44,000 worker strike. Federal mediator John R. Murray arranged the talks after midnight Sunday walkouts from 30 plants. Main issues are wages contract length and time study of jobs. Company VP Robert D. Blasier calls contract length the key hurdle.
A fire yesterday afternoon gutted a Negro residence on Short 5th Street. Occupants were J. C. Howard and family. Firemen said the blaze was well advanced before the fire truck arrived and the origin could not be determined.
Travis Mathis, prosecutor for the eighth judicial district, will address the Blevins High School weekly assembly Wednesday at 10 a.m. Parents and citizens of Blevins are invited to attend and hear Mr Mathis.

Pasadena police said 19 year old John Hawley confessed to beating his mother Iris Hawley 45 to death with a hammer in the Oak Knoll home. He then tried to kill himself by leaping in front of vehicles and received eight hours of surgery.
St Lawrence Corp of Montreal announces a five dollar per ton newsprint price increase effective November 1. Harold Smith, president of Wright Co New York distributor for St Lawrence, said notices went out to all newspapers served. The delivered price in New York rises to 131 per ton.

Royal Canadian Air Force planes combed the water after wreckage from a 36 foot fishing boat was sighted off Vancouver Island. A message from the boat yesterday said the crew was abandoning ship.
Secretary of State Dulles said China has formally raised a high level meeting with the United States to discuss Far East problems. He noted Red China pressed the idea at Geneva along with objections to the Western trade blockage and stressed he will not approve such talks until Geneva discussions are exhausted.
Nude bodies of three boys aged 11 to 14 were found piled in a ditch beside Lawerence Ave in Robins woods by a forest preserve ranger. Police suspect a sex fiend. two brothers and a friend were reported missing from a northwest side home earlier that day.
At the Arkansas Beekeepers Association meeting in Little Rock a faction of commercial members defected, accusing the group and the state Apiary Board of amateur dominance. They announced the Arkansas Honey Producers and Packers Association and set a meeting for November 1 in North Little Rock. Ray Fischer was named tentative vice president. Members named include Vaughn Wilson, E. E. Turner, and Monta Sunkel, who plan to petition Gov Faubus to appoint Turner to the Apiary Board succeeded Wilson in June 1956.
57 year old South Carolinian General Randolph McCall Pate will take over as the Marine Corps commandant on January 1, succeeding retiring General Lemuel C. Shepherd. Secretary of Defense Wilson announced the elevation after a call on President Eisenhower in Denver. Pate called the announcement a surprise, saying he was very excited and humble.
Soviet delegate Arkady Sobolev urged the Disarmament Commission to meet early to review a five nation subcommittee report and draft a UN General Assembly note. He suggested discussing arms reductions in the Assembly alongside Geneva ministers talks, a move Washington opposed.

Barbers bridge on Highway 36 in White County will cost 55,489 to Mississ Valley Contracting Co. of Gould. Hope Prescott pavement repairs on Highway 42 in Hempstead and Nevada counties cost 119,137 by Campbell Construction Co. of Shreveport. Turrell connection road on Highway 42 in Crittenden County costs 19,908 to West Memphis Asphalt Co. of Memphis.
New Haven Conn Abraham A Ribicoff tours the flood area by helicopter to view the havoc from recent floods. Emergency flood headquarters are in Norwalk as the Army sets up relief, clears debris and builds temporary roads while urging national flood insurance and reconstruction plans.
Segregation leader Robert Patterson urged parents in Hoxie Arkansas to keep children home to oppose integration after a federal injunction. He argued Americans should withhold schooling to pressure the school board and vowed a year’s loss would safeguard parental rights. Hoxie schools plan to reopen next Monday.
The Post Office Department approved mailing the January issue of Confidential after its legal staff reviewed an advance copy and ruled it could go through the mails. The clearance comes as the publisher prepares for distribution.
