Arkansas Supreme Court Allows Cash Fund Use by Institutions
The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled that cash funds from sources like student fees and dormitory charges may be used by state agencies, but not to supplement salaries beyond legislative. The decision upheld the ruling that funds cannot raise individual pay above fixed limits, enjoining such payments. The court distinguished cash funds from federal, county, endowment, or gift sources. Assistant AG Arnold Adams noted only about a dozen employees would be affected by the salary cap ruling.
