City Marshal Willie Brown, a Negro, was retained after a mild reprimand by the City Council following a gambling raid last week. State Police and Alcoholic Beverage Control agents raided three night spots. Brown, charged with gambling, forfeited a $200 bond. Mayor Fred George said Brown deserved a second chance and could become a better officer.

Firemen were called at 12 45 p m Wednesday to the Bobby Fore home at 412 East 1th Street where a clothes dryer caught fire. Damage was limited to the dryer and minor floor damage, according to firemen.

President Nixon told AP directors that most current crises would be resolved within three years, with the war ending and lasting peace in the Pacific possible. He said inflation and crime would also be under control, crediting congressional crime bills and aggressive action to combat narcotics, organized crime, and vice.
