In Talladega Alabama Herbert Hoover Gentry a 20 year old deaf mute began a three year term for first degree manslaughter in the death of Mrs Dorothy Deal of Rome Georgia whose body was found in a cesspool. The jury found him guilty after a four hour deliberation and he still faces trial for the murder of his wife. Gentry testified by sign language and claimed his confession was beaten out of him with Frank Adair named as the real killer. The judge refined murder and manslaughter definitions and will try Gentry for his wife's death next term.
