Damage Claim Upheld In Springdale Seweage Case And Davis Robbery Appeal

In Little Rock the Arkansas Supreme Court upheld a $7,000 jury award to Mr and Mrs Homer Ketetur over sewer damages after a 1963 incident near their Springdale land. The court reversed on Calvin Davis’s February 14 1966 Hyant store robbery conviction, sending it back to Pulaski Circuit Court for retry. Justice Britt Ward noted substantial evidence supported the sewer ruling while Justice George Rose Strickland criticized inadmissible Miranda related claims.

Three Rapists Sought on Murder Count

In Santa Rosa, police hunt three young assailants after a 19 year old college freshman from Alexandria Virginia was shot three times including the head while his 18 year old companion, estranged from her husband, was abducted from a lover’s lane and raped repeatedly. The two fled in separate cars. Police say the attack occurred after a party Friday night and the couple were driven to Proctor Heights where a second car joined. A gun was brandished and the women forced from the car. Three shots were heard as the events unfolded.

Chicago Gets Democratic Convention

Western Democrats move to insert a loyalty oath in 1968 Chicago convention rules requiring delegates to pledge support for the party presidential ticket. California State committeeman Eugene L. Jet lands safely after engine loss near San Juan

Janet Jordan, 19, of Prescott, was chosen Arkansas state fair queen at the Arkansas Livestock Exposition grandstand, prevailing over nine contestants. Youth talent winner Martha James, 14, of Cotton Plant, took first in talent and vocalist divisions, earning $100 plus $50.

Twin Slayings Rock New York Greenwich Family Girl

A 26 year old laborer Donald Ramsey was charged with the murders of an 18 year old Linda Fitzpatrick of Greenwich and a young man after their nude bodies were found in a Manhattan tenement boiler room following an LSD party. Freddie Wright assistant superintendent of the five story building was arrested on rape and robbery charges. A 2 year old woman at the party claimed Wright attacked her and stole $8. The slain couple were identified by a stepsister as Linda Fitzpatrick daughter of Irving Fitzpatrick Knickerbocker Mills president.

Girl rescues toddler from 25-foot canal in South Bay

Paula Scoggins a Miami junior high student swam 15 yards to reach a sinking car in a murky canal after a woman handed out the 3 year old Laura Ann Sehick. The car and its three occupants including the child's grandparents were recovered with doors still closed.
