Four Die in Light Plane Crash at Hamburg
Hamburg reporter states that Charles Carpenter Jr. piloted a light plane that crashed in a housing clearing. Two 16 year old theater employees Herman Farmer and Jerry Doyle Mann were killed instantly. Charles King died en route to hospital after surviving the initial impact. Carpenter, 35, a WWII veteran and flyer who ran a drive in theater, also died.

About 35 employees of the Fort Smith Structural Steel Co. returned to work today after accepting a company proposal to end a month-long strike. The AFL Iron Workers Saturday night ratified a new two-year contract providing an 11 cent an hour raise, short of the union's 20 cent demand when the strike began September 1. The company makes steel for construction.
