Dikes to Protect Highway at Fulton
Little Rock. The Arkansas Highway Commission plans permeable pile dikes on the left bank of the Red River at Fulton to stabilize the highway. Proposed dikes include one 100 feet downstream from the Missouri Pacific bridge, a 260 foot mid reach dike, and a 310 foot top bank parallel section to curb further caving. Plans may be examined at the U S Engineers office in Vicksburg with objections due by October 7.

Earthquake Strikes Los Angeles Causes Early Morning Panic

Stribling Crippled in Cycle Accident
Macon Ga W L Young Stribling boxing career ended Sunday when his left foot was cut off in a collision between his motorcycle and an automobile. He suffered a fractured pelvis and doctors gave a 50 50 chance to live. The accident occurred while en route from a golf course to see his wife and their two week old baby. Sheriff J R Hickson said R V Johnson drove the car. Stribling was a former heavyweight contender known locally as a boxer and basket ball star and Kiwanis Club member. He also held a transport pilot license and served in the army reserve.
