Rain Delays But Parade Impresses Big Crowds
Nearly four and a half inches of rain delayed the Third District Livestock Show parade by an hour yet the event drew one of the largest crowds in history. The rodeo opened with Tex Ritter as the highlight despite continued showers. The parade, led by Dr. Dolph Camp and the Southern State College Bands, featured multiple high schools and clubs with top float and bike awards.

Clearing Land Demonstration Is Wednesday
The public is invited to a land clearing demonstration on Wednesday afternoon October 6 1954 at the Fred Cabiness farm near U S Highway 2 four miles west of Lewisville. Jointly sponsored by Lafayette County Soil Conservation District and Southern Equipment Company Monroe Louisiana the municipal feature will be four large tractor equipped with torque converted and a V type scalloped blade that shears brush with the ground. Fire prevention by the Arkansas Forestry Commission.
