The Associated Press reports a slow warming trend in Arkansas continuing through Friday as a large high pressure system influences the region. One center of the high sits over the Texas Gulf Coast, helping keep conditions dry and stable.
A full day of sunshine is expected to push today's highs into the low to mid 60s. Overnight lows mostly in the 30s with cool, fair conditions tonight. Arkansas highs Friday mid 60s to low 70s. cool nights. scattered readings across cities.

Police say guitarist James P. Widener and Mildred Hazelwood were last seen walking toward a Holiday Inn near the Tennessee Capitol before their bodies were found in an alley. Detectives say they were likely forced into Widener's car after dining at a motel lounge and grill.

In Arkansas floods a real economic blow to farmers, with as much as 15 percent of the cotton crop lost and lower quality remaining cotton due to high water. Soybeans also badly hurt as about 65 percent of the crop was in, leaving 35 percent in fields. Muddy harvests will delay gathering. Areas along the Arkansas, White and Black rivers flooded earlier this week, with the Army Corps of Engineers saying the damage rivals last spring’s totals.
City Hall discussed reworking Hope crossings with L A and Missouri Pacific Railroad officials. Missouri Pacific's Gene Butler said Hazel Street crossing work could start this month with full depth planking and rerouted autos.

Irving Brockwell, 68, of Snyder, died when a car he rode in went out of control and landed in about four feet of water in a drainage ditch near Hamburg. The accident occurred Tuesday night on a county road 18 miles northeast of Hamburg. Carl Cotton of Hamby escaped without serious injury. The wreck was found by two duck hunters about seven hours later.
