Jehovah's Witnesses to Convene Regional Conference
More than 1,500 people from 21 towns will gather December 8 and 9 at Texarkana College Auditorium for the semi annual circuit conference of Jehovah's Witnesses The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York sponsors the event with the theme Keep Close in Mind Jehovah s Day The Hope congregation presiding minister Robert Bilbo says the event will provide training for ministerial activity The program includes lectures pantomimes discussions and songs On December 9 H C Hoskins of Watchtower Headquarters in New York will speak on Act Wisely as the End Draws Near and will present several addresses with D H Smith also from New York attending multiple times

A helicopter gunship crash on a cross country training flight near Marlow Oklahoma killed two Army officers from Fort Sill CWO Michael S Knight of Lawton Oklahoma and WOL Kenneth J King of Saddle Brook New Jersey. The AH-64 Cobra crash occurred on the Grady Stephens County line as both aviators were assigned to Battery C 3rd Field Artillery at Fort Sill.

Canister Drive and Coffee Fundraiser Aids Hope
The Canister Drive and Coffee for Retarded held in Hope on November 17 raised 642.55 for two Hempstead County Association for Retarded Children programs. Funds support a Camp Wildwood summer camp near Searcy Arkansas and a district state Olympic program promoting inclusive activity for ages 6 to 60.
