Camp Robinson Mess Hall Roof Collapses In Progress

Whisky Still Captured Near Hope During Raid

Officers raided a whisky still about miles south of Hope near the Alton CCC Camp on Tuesday. Bob Palmore, a Negro, was captured and jailed here pending a hearing, while another Negro escaped. Four barrels of mash and five gallons of whisky were seized. The still, with a 60 gallon capacity, was one of the best in years and was copper and very complete. Deputy Sheriff Tom Middlebrooks led the raid with Patrolman Charlie Boyd and Joe Morton assisting.
