A ridge of high pressure to the west brought clear cold weather across Arkansas. The forecast calls for the high to move east today into tonight keeping clear skies and temperatures slightly below normal with highs in the mid 50s in the north and mid 60s elsewhere.
The Hope Star reports cooler conditions with lingering high pressure and southerly return for Tuesday. Weekend weather shows highs in the 50s and 60s with dry conditions forecast. The paper includes staff credits and advertising rate details for local and out of state subscriptions.
The U S Postal Service will be closed on Thanksgiving Thursday with no deliveries though lockbox service and special delivery remain. The Progressive Young Black Women held a radiothon for Gerald Ellis, four, son of Robert and Eola Ellis of Hope. Funds totaling 3917.60 were deposited to the Gerald Ellis Fund at First National Bank, with pledges still arriving and totals tabulated daily.

The Arkansas Supreme Court upheld a Pulaski Circuit Court ruling approving a second Glenwood bank. The ruling supported Caddo State Bank’s 1975 Glenwood application against Bank of Glenwood. The court rejected four challenges, including lack of substantial evidence for the board’s charter grant. The decision also affirmed separate criminal sentences for Kay and Burton.
