Farm Workers Union of America plans a boycott in Arkansas targeting iceberg lettuce, table grapes, and Gallo wines to pressure growers to bargain with migrant workers. Bill Chandler of Houston, the regional rep, noted a local group Friends of the United Farm Workers will solicit donations and distribute leaflets in Little Rock. The union cites the National Labor Relations Act as not covering farm workers, arguing consumer pressure is the route to bargaining.
