Two negro youths Fred Phillips and John Nelson charged with raping a negro girl waived preliminary hearing Monday and were bound over to the Hempstead county grand jury without bond. Officers Turner and Ward arrested them Friday night on complaint of the girl's parents. In other cases O. B. Redden pleaded guilty to drunkenness and was fined ten dollars and costs, Walter Anderson also pled guilty to drunkenness and was fined ten dollars and costs. Both are held in jail.
Seventeen twin pairs gathered at the Saenger Theater Saturday for a party hosted by theater management and Hope Star. The event celebrated the Siamese twins Simplicio and Lucio Godino on stage, with 34 free matinee tickets awarded to attendees aged 6 to 24.

Marlin Hargis former Hope High School fullback and Austin Blackwell, local youths, were jailed Saturday on suspicion of stealing an automobile wheel from a parked car near the Prescott football field. Hargis was found not guilty. Blackwell released after agreeing to pay costs on a petit larceny charge. Police traced the wheel to a gasoline station on East Division Street where it had been exchanged for fuel.
Robert Berry an 18 year old high school student died in a collision Monday between his car and another driven by an African American man who was later arrested on a manslaughter charge.
Col Roscoe Turner landed in Columbus at 10 28 after taking off from New York at 7 46 in an attempt to establish a transcontinental air record. He departed Columbus after refueling and later reportedly reached Kansas City Missouri five hours four minutes from New York. Governor White of Ohio comments beer legalization could end racketeering. Amy Johnson, renowned English flyer, aims to beat her husband’s 4 day 17 hour 19 minute South Africa flight record.
Osceola Arkansas officials say Robert Whittaker 50 surrendered after national guardsmen fired 300 rounds into a barricaded cabin near Keiser He allegedly killed Lincoln county deputy Hale Jackson said he had led a posse since Thursday and Whittaker taunted officers before surrendering following the assault by guardsmen
Robert Whittaker, a Black man captured near Osceola, is suspected in the 11 year old slaying of Deputy Sheriff William Osborn at Gould. Deputy Fish said Whittaker was linked to the case only by information from Mississippi County officers via relatives. Unless new evidence appears, identification or conviction seems unlikely. The $1,000 reward for the slayer has long been withdrawn.
District No. 1, including Little River Hope Texarkana Nashville DeQueen Prescott, defeated District No. 2 with an 82.37 average. Eight players advance to El Dorado November 27 from Little River Hope Texarkana Camden Stamps Magnolia El Dorado Prescott. E. L. Presley of DeQueen and E. C. Brown of Texarkana tied for low score at 73.
At Washington on Monday the Hempstead Quorum Court discussed reviving the county farm and home demonstration agent program. A committee led by H. H. Huskey Elijah Stephens J. W. Russell and A. R. Simmons urged a 1933 appropriation. County judges had previously refused salary claims. the court approved similar appropriations in 1930 and 1929 but dropped the issue in 1931.
Cotton prices fell by 65 cents per bale while December and May futures closed lower amid a muted market. Hempstead county’s cotton enumerator reported 16,089 bales ginned by November 1, 1932, versus 22,340 bales prior year. USDA weekly review notes steady undertone, higher November quotations, and easing seller asking bases with good picking weather overall. Exports to November total about 2.5 million bales, led by Germany and Japan, with France and Italy showing gains.
