Bipartisan calls for equal voice in peace policy rise in 1944
On August 31 1944 Congressmen Brooks Hays and Walter Judd introduced identical resolutions urging joint party responsibility in international peacemaking. Referred to Foreign Affairs, they were not heard. They reintroduced them at the new session and asked for an early hearing on atomic energy and world peace. In a November 10 Attlee dinner remark President Truman echoed bipartisan unity in foreign policy.
