Hunting Deaths Push Arkansas Toll to Nineteen
Two weekend hunting accidents raised Arkansas fatalities to 19 since last Monday. Verlie Lee Collier, 51, of Rector, died after a shotgun wound at a Paragould hospital. Earl Wade Beckwith, 14, near Bald Knob, was shot while in the woods and died en route to a hospital. Coroner Elvis Daniel said the incidents occurred as the hunting season continued.

Couple killed in Des Arc timber accident near Johnson Chapel
A Des Arc farming couple, Sam Humphreys aged 70 and his wife Minnie about 68, were killed yesterday when their Model automobile collided with a lumber truck near Des Arc in the Johnson Chapel area. The incident occurred around 6 AM as the husband, who was hunting alone, is said to have been struck after attempting to pull a stump. The scene was described as an accident involving a truck collision on the Des Arc Navy area.
