Duke's Body Returned To England
A Royal Air Force plane brought the body of the Duke of Windsor home to England today. The 75-year-old duchess canceled plans to accompany the body and watched the nine car cortege leave their Paris home in the Bois de Boulogne. Her doctor said she had been under too much strain to make the trip. The duchess, who gave up Britain's throne, is expected to come to England Friday and stay at Buckingham Palace for the first time since the 1936 abdication. The duke died Sunday in Paris at age 77. The body will lie in state Friday and Saturday in St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.
