Women have given big sacrifices in service to country
Memorial Day notes acknowledge and honor American women who served and died in war. From Molly Pitcher to World War II nurses and the WAVES, SPARs, WACs, and Red Cross workers, women’s sacrifices are traced from 1801 to 1948, with memorials, honors, and enduring legacy highlighted. The piece cites Dud DoD stats of 1,088 wartime female deaths in WWI II and Korea, and recalls Arlington’s nurse plot and Dr Mary Walker’s Medal of Honor history.

Competitive Cotton Plan Favored by Arkansas Growers

The measure would create a domestic payment to allow U S cotton to be bought at world prices, helping U S mills compete while keeping farmers in business. Uncertainty remains over House action and Senate committee treatment.
