The Associated Press reports Henry Arnold of Crossett won a $21,000 jury verdict against former Ashley County Sheriff Guy Mormon. Arnold claimed Mormon entered his business without a warrant and shot him in the arm during a September 1964 scuffle over a gun.

Noon collisions keep City Police busy

Three accidents around the noon hour drew City Police attention. On North Main Mrs. H R Gleghorn’s parked car was struck. at 15th and Main Willie Charles Johnson lost control, hitting a telephone pole, while James Carter fled the scene. Runaways Picked Up by State Police

State Policemen Fullerton and Stokes picked up three youths yesterday. Two were wanted in South Bend Indiana. AWOL soldier William C. Phipps will be turned over to the U.S. Army. Parole violator Kenneth Bruce Turmelee will be turned over to Indiana authorities. Sandra Kay of South Bend was traveling with them and will be returned to her parents.

Storms Cause Damage in Conway Arkansas

Severe thunderstorms struck two Arkansas cities, injuring Mrs. Cecil Clements in a trailer home overturned by high winds in Conway. Damage at Idle Hour Florist and a Hendrix College campus beautification area was extensive. Marble hail, downed trees, and power outages disrupted Conway streets and nearby U.S. 65. Appaloosa Horse Show Returns for Arkansas Event

The 4th annual Appaloosa Horse Show in Arkansas takes place Saturday May 29 at the Third District Livestock Show Coliseum Fairpark. Halter classes start at 10 a.m. free to the public. performance classes at 7 p.m. charge 50 cents for children and 1.00 for adults with all proceeds to Hope-Kiwanis Club for its Youth program.
