Royall Dies at 76 Former Army Secretary
Kenneth C. Royall, 76, who served as secretary of the Army under President Truman, died early today at Watts Hospital in Durham after several weeks there. A Goldsboro, North Carolina native, he served in World Wars I and II and rose from special assistant to secretary of war in 1945 to secretary of the Army in 1947 before resigning in 1949 to return to private life and join a New York law firm.
