Winners at District Poultry Festival in Nashville

Winners at the District Producers Awards in Nashville included Eugene Roger and spouse of Prescott for commercial pullets, D B Yarbrough and spouse of Nashville for broilers, W C Henderson and spouse of Delight for breeder hens, D L Green and spouse of Nashville for breeder pullets, and Eugene Dillard and spouse of Hope for commercial hens. Fourteen additional 4 H barbecue winners were named as non pictured. Thirty two contestants vied for five finals spots to represent Southwest District at the State Pageant in Hot Springs June 12th and 13th. The festival, co sponsored by Hope and Nashville, marked the end of an era begun in 1960. The event featured Master of Ceremonies P D Gathright and performances by Miss Texarkana Marsha Barnes and the Campbell family.

Weekend report lists 7 traffic violations 2 license violations 5 drunkenness 4 driving while intoxicated 1 carrying a concealed weapon disturbing the peace 1 resisting arrest and 1 petit larceny. Year total 103 accidents with 15 injuries.
