Bucky Harris Receives Just Credit From Cuban Players
In a round of praise for Bucky Harris, the Washington Senators manager is credited for his role in the rise of Cuban players in the major leagues. The piece recalls Harris’s early years in the capital, the reluctance of Cubans to join, and Clark Griffith's support that helped Cuba-born athletes improve. It notes the shift aided by Cubans joining the big leagues and U S players also gaining exposure in Cuba during 1947-48 winter play.
