Arkansas schools split over sales taxes and local reform
A local opinion piece critiques state and national schooling finance, arguing for property tax reform over sales tax hikes. It cites Beasley of the Governor's Advisory Committee on Education and outlines how decades of sales tax reliance have weakened local districts, urging more accountability at the county level and warning that state aid cannot fully fix funding without local tax reforms. The column laments ongoing reliance on sales taxes and emphasizes local governance as essential to sustainable school funding.
