Youth Riot Breaks Out at Frisco Beachfront

In San Francisco a beach riot involving about 1 000 youths erupted when police moved to break up a fight at Playland at the Beach. Arkansas Supreme Court reversed the burglary tools conviction of Jimmy C. Gossett his wife and Edward Easley holding that a screwdriver and tire tools cannot be burglary tools. The trio were convicted in Magnolia and sentenced to two years in prison after police found tools in their car near a cigarette vending machine. The court found error in denying a directed verdict of acquittal at trial.

Court Rules Extend Juvenile Rights to Trials

Supreme Court extended to juveniles today substantially the same constitutional protections given adults in criminal trials. The 8 to 1 decision, with Justice Fortas leading the majority and Justice Stewart dissenting, applies several Bill of Rights safeguards including notice of charges, attorney's assistance, confrontation and cross examination, protection against self incrimination, right to a transcript, and right to appellate review.

New Battle Shapes Up Near DMZ

GEORGE MCARTHUR N AP Heavy ground fighting and severe Communist barrages pounded the area just south of the demilitarized zone as U S Marines and North Vietnamese regulars clashed. Marines reported 12 dead and 92 wounded on Sunday, with 73 bodies found in a fresh burial ground. Across the air war, American forces downed seven MIG jets and reported 10 weekend kills. Hanoi claimed seven U S jets downed. In the Da Nang area Marines said they killed 110 North Vietnamese regulars in a running battle southwest of Da Nang while probing for the Ly Ly River.

WRs Cattle Sale Brings $140000 at Morriston Arkansas

The sale of 50 head of ta Gertrudis cattle owned by Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller totaled $140,050. The Superior Oil Co. of Houston Tex bought 14 head for $44,650 and Jack Josey of Cypress Tex paid $8,009 for the top bull WR Race COCO 589-2. The event at Rockefeller's farm on Petit Jean Mountain drew about 4,000 people with averages from $1,287.50 for junior heifer calves to $4,531,980 for herd bulls.
