Community groups schedule Mother's Day services and social events across churches. Activities include Sunday School programs at First Methodist and Baptist churches, combined with hospital day open house. The Pat Cleburne Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy met at 2 30 at the home of Mrs W G Allison with co hosts Mrs Gus Haynes Miss Zenobia Reed and Mrs W W Duckett. A salute to the Confederate Flag and Lord's Prayer opened the gathering. Officers remained except third vice president with A W Martin elected as new member. Notable readings covered Confederate Mothers Bel Boyd and the Confederate Magazine War Service of Captain George Polk. Twenty three members attended with one guest Mrs M J Field.
Presbyterians plan a Mother's Day themed service at First Presbyterian Church this Sunday at 7:50 PM. The choir will perform Serenade by Schubert, Mother Love Abideth, Mothers Evening Song, and The Lost Chord piano organ, with Miss Effie Hyatt, Miss Roberta Howard, Paula Raley, Ann Barr, Janet and David McKenzie participating.

Mrs. D Leigh Colvin, president of the Nations Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, urged a pledge of total abstinence from liquor. She called drinking the enemy to a happy home life, saying the mother is the traditional conservator of the home and that taking the pledge on a family day would train sons and daughters in temperance.

Mr and Mrs Scott DeLee Jr and daughter Susan of Dallas come Saturday to spend Mother's Day with Mrs DeLee’s parents Mr and Mrs Leo Robins. Mr DeLee returns Sunday while Mrs DeLee and daughter stay longer. Miss Betty Robins, University of Arkansas Fayettville, arrives Saturday night for a visit with her parents.
