Cude Kids Taken Under Submission In Arkansas Case
The Arkansas Supreme Court took the Cude child custody dispute under submission for rehearing. The case involves three children of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cude of Mena who must be vaccinated and enrolled in school, with custody to be considered after vaccination. Cade resists vaccination on religious grounds and would not pursue further U.S. Supreme Court action if the Arkansas high court rules against him. Governor Faubus had earlier housed the children at the governor's mansion to keep them from a Welfare Department home. The court previously ruled vaccination conditionally tied to custody, and Cade may reject return. In a separate matter, the court denied rehearing on Act 19 of 1984, the voter registration law, deeming it unconstitutional for county or local elections to require poll taxes.
