Opposed 4-F Labor Draft Bill Faces Senate Hurdles
Senate Military committee members balk at a Bailey Brewster plan to draft 4-F registrants into labor or military service. Kilgore and Johnson oppose, while House leaders push a work or fight approach. Measure would induct 18 to 45 year olds in non essential shifts and reclassify 3.8 million 4-Fs for essential industry. Bureau and Hershey support the bill, noting 1,000,000 under 38 4-Fs not in essential war work.
