Scheduled execution stayed on appeal in Arkansas
Dennie Twines, 46, a woodchopper, had his Friday execution stayed after an appeal filed in the Arkansas Supreme Court contesting his murder conviction of his divorced wife Gertrude from an early February morning near her home. Two unidentified assailants found a man on a railroad track, held him four hours. Jeff Mackey, 52, a farmer from Adkins, barely escaped death beneath a fast passenger train near here Tuesday. Milo Reno, 71, of Des Moines and president of the National Partners Holiday Association, died Tuesday of a heart attack in Excelsior Springs Missouri.
