Campaign changes shift candidate headquarters in Arkansas
In Arkansas the 1972 campaign shows a shift from dense downtown headquarter clusters to fringe areas driven by rising rents and parking. Sen. John L. McClellan remains the only major candidate with downtown access, while David Pryor and others spread across western and distant blocks, altering election night activity. Gov. Dale Bumpers also forms a Veterans Jobs Task Force to study legislation and coordinate with veterans groups without a paid staff or public funds.
