A Roy Bosson report in yesterday's Arkansas Democrat says Pulaski County will seek to boost school financing by raising property assessments to 28 percent of true value, up from about 15 percent statewide. County Judge Campbell backs the move, urging the school directors to support an expanded equalization effort and faster reforms. The article notes added appropriations for assessors and cites a 1981 law granting the county equalization board authority to hire staff and reconvene to finalize property assessment reviews.
