Extension of Legislature Seems Sure
Senator Morrell Gathright of Pine Bluff and House Speaker Hayes Mc Clerkin of Texarkana say the Arkansas extended session will continue next week, possibly with a two to three week recess. They stress action on pending budget bills and the revenue stabilization act, plus final action on tax bills. The act curbs general revenues spending starting July 1. Cigarettes and corporate income tax bills remain in the Senate, while the House has yet to act on the general appropriation bill. The Revenue Stabilization Act is due to be introduced Tuesday.
