Committee to Work on Tax Revision
The House Ways and Means Committee plans next week to begin writing a tax revision bill after hearing about 200 witnesses on President Kennedy's proposals. It is expected to move to the House in June with a bill offering immediate tax cuts around 3 billion dollars, potentially leveling to about Kennedy's long range 10.2 billion figure. Observers doubt the bill will include most of Kennedy's broader reforms, aiming for reductions without widening the deficit.
