Bethlehem March 2 Four steel workers were killed and 13 injured in a furnace blast at Bethlehem Steel Co. reports indicate three men identified. A shower of molten metal sprayed from the furnace as investigators, the coroner Dr Bachman, and hospital staff worked to account for the victims.
The Interstate Commerce Commission outlines a priority system for essential goods as a power saving freight order cuts shipments 25 percent next Tuesday. A federal board will study causes of the strike, with hearings possible through holidays to finish findings. Lewis seeks a $100 monthly miners pension funded by a coal royalty backed welfare fund, amid stalemate with Ezra Van Horn over the fund’s pension details.
