No Sign of Football Agreement

Palm Springs Calif AP The joint meeting of the National and American Football Leagues stretched into its fifth day with no sign of a deal on realigning for the 1970 season. Commissioner Pete Rozelle said no definite resolution was reached and expressed doubt about settling the issues Thursday. Talks may resume at a spring meeting in New York in May with committees to be named in the interim. The core dispute is whether the NFL will remain 16 teams and the AFL 10 or move to total 26-team realignment or expansion. Rozelle confirmed the NFL’s stance on 16-10 alignment with no deviations.
