PSC Rate Hint Continued From Page Oné Edit This Way

The commission notes that under a 383 purchase contract Mr Stephens can secure a continued return on his investment. Any gas cost rise by Stephens’ partnership would be paid by Fort Smith. The PSC chair says Fort Smith must pass increases to ultimate consumers and that PSC has authority over rates Fort Smith Gas charges consumers and over gas prices paid to affiliate Stephens Production. The contract allows renegotiation on 90 days notice with a three member arbitral panel if needed and caps new price to the original rate. The PSC faces a possible price rise for Fort Smith Gas’s supply from Stephens Production and could grant limited rate increases, as it did for Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company.
