Death of World War I veteran Louie Frontz near DeAnn

Louie Frontz 0 veteran of World War I died at his home near DeAnn at 11 30 Monday night. Survived by widow and five children Dennis Geneva Virginia Iya Mae and Thelma Mae Frontz. Funeral services held 4 30 Tuesday afternoon at Holly Grove church with Rev S A Whitlow presiding. Burial in Holly Grove cemetery.

District Court of Honor Held at First Methodist

A District Court of Honor was held Monday night at First Methodist to honor Hempstead County Boy Scouts. Ted Jones led the program as advancement chairman with plans for bi monthly Courts of Honor. Fourteen awards were presented including Sutton of troop 62 advancing to first class and Duffey receiving merit badges across several fields. Hamby earned the Eagle award with ceremonies led by Dr. F C Crow. The event also featured first class and life awards presented by Scout leaders from Hope troops. A camporee to Camp Preston in late April was announced alongside growth plans for Hempstead district.

British physicist Alan Nunn May held on secrets act charge

London March 19 Tr Alan Nunn May a 34 year old British physicist who worked on wartime atomic research was held on charges of violating the official secrets act by giving atomic information to an undisclosed person. He was refused bail by Magistrate Harold McKenna who called release potentially against public policy. May pleads not guilty to the act which carries up to seven years. attorney Gerald Gardner challenged who could be the enemy. Prosecutor Anthony Hawke pressed that the state might involve any potential enemy.

Mrs Edgar Thrash and Mrs JL Walker hosted Circle No 2 of the Women’s Missionary Society of First Baptist at Thrash’s home Monday afternoon. The gathering opened with prayer by Mrs WHillow. Mrs John Turner led the business session. Mrs Cleve Andres spoke on Community Missions and Mrs John Turney led the third chapter of Pray Your. Mrs Henry Haynes closed with prayer. A light salad plate with coffee was served to members and one guest.
