Road Aid Legislation Hinges on Federal Match

Washington reports say Senator Mil ley and Arkansas lawmakers told the House roads committee that Arkansas must receive fed ral aid with no matching required to fund new road construction in the next years. Gasoline taxes and highway revenues would pay principal and interest on state debt, with about 25 percent tied to a refunding act. The amendment would let any state apply for federal funds without a matching levy, crucial as toll credits expire in 1942.
