The Senate moved toward final action on a five year extension of the Voting Rights Act as it also approved lowering the voting age to 18 in a separate measure. West Memphis Ark Harry F. Smith 36 of West Memphis died Thursday night in a head on crash 1.7 miles west of West Memphis police said his car was struck by a vehicle driven by Catherine Byrd 35 of Procarp. Byrd was hospitalized with injuries. Police indicated Byrd was attempting a U turn when the collision occurred.
Cambodian crowds thronged Phnom Penh for a third day to protest North Vietnamese and Viet Cong incursions. They attacked Viet Cong owned properties and churches. four Vietnamese were hospitalized.
