Hearing March 26 on Arkansas Louisiana Gas rates in state

Ninety two Mineral Springs residents pressed the State Utilities Commission Tuesday to reopen hearings on rates charged by Arkansas Louisiana Gas Co. Heeding the protest, the commission said a communication about a possible reduction could be used as an exhibit in the March 26 hearing. Residents claim Arkansas Natural Gas Corp. moved to establish a franchise in 1928 to supply gas, and that rates were fixed during the first years of operation. They argue the time limit for revising rates is near, yet gas customers in the community still pay excessive charges for system inauguration and installation.
