Win at Bridge Setting Trick Can Be Lost
The bidding shows a 1 clubs opening advancing to 4 hearts after a pass sequence. West leads the two from his hand, and declarer must manage an aggressive play to avoid losing the setting trick with careful timing of the lead and ruff potential. East–West vulnerability amplifies the stakes as the play unfolds.
Souths risky four spade bid and heart lead play
In a bridge hand South bids four spades with nine top tricks and a chance for a tenth. After three diamond leads, South trumps and should lead hearts to pressure the defense. West shows a four heart length by playing the eight, guiding East to the nine, while North hopes for a favorable defense slip.
