Arkansas lawmakers seek cash value for trading stamps

Rep. Joseph Mahony of El Dorado and Rep. Don Corbin of Stamps introduced a bill in the Arkansas House Wednesday requiring retailers offering trading stamps to also provide customers with the cash equivalent based on the merchandise the stamps could redeem. Kissinger faces angry Cyprus protest in Cardiff

Terrorists seized in hotel shootout in Tel Aviv

Israeli troops captured an eighth Arab guerrilla after a seven hour siege at the Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv following a major al Fatah attack that killed at least nine people and held hostages. Greek Navy and Air Force quell Athens camp unrest

In Greece, Navy destroyers and Air Force jets were sent from Elefsis to Salamis Bay near Megara to deter unrest at the Megalo Pefko army camp. Wholesale prices drop as farm costs ease in February

Washington AP reports wholesale prices fell 0.8 percent in February, the third consecutive monthly decline, led by a 4.6 percent drop in farm products and a 2.8 percent fall in processed foods. The index stood at 171.3 of the 1967=100 base, signaling inflation cooling at wholesale level though prices remain 14.6 percent higher than a year earlier.

Hope High wins language festival sweepstakes at UA meet

Hope High School foreign language students led by Mrs. Booles captured the most awards at the University of Arkansas Foreign Language Festival. Twenty Hope students competed in German and French, earning first in Free Expression, German Declamation top honors for Dennis Arrington, and a host of other prizes. The group performed in the Foreign Language Show and earned a standing ovation, with trophies to be displayed at the school.
