The Hempstead County Court orders a registration and classification of outstanding warrants drawn on the county up to December 31 1938. All warrants presented must be properly registered and endorsed by the clerk, with warrants dated prior to December 31 1938 to be logged, classified, and presented to the county treasurer for verification on Monday 1939 at noon.
Arkadelphia Peak High School defeated Clow High School 33 to 15 at Rosstott Field to win the District 2 basketball crown. This marks Peak’s fifteenth win with no defeats this season. Peak and Clow advance to the state tournament in Pine Bluff.

Saratoga High School senior girls basketball team defeated Spring Hill 50 to 4 to win the Hempstead County championship at Saratoga. Saratoga had earlier beaten Blevins and Patmos to reach the final, in a seven-team tournament. Columbus could not play due to illness among its players.
Jonesboro Junior High School defeated East Side Hornets of Little Rock 49 to 23 to secure its third consecutive state junior high basketball championship. James McCall and Robert Shannon each scored 13, Barton Thorpe added 12, with Pierce and McDaniel contributing eight each. The Jonesboro lineup included McCall, Shannon, Thorpe, Sellers, and Sinnonn.
