A Warm Winter for Sgt William Spring in Santo Domingo
Sgt William Spring of the 2nd Airborne, a Philadelphia native, says this is the first winter in 24 years without snow. He commands a squad patrolling Ciudad Nueva in Santo Domingo as part of the Inter-American Peace Force amid sniper fire and hostile crowds. When off duty, Spring and his men relax on a Caribbean beach. He plans to return to his wife and family at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in July.
